Charges for deopsit Cash

Dear Sir,

I asked one of my friend to deposit cash in my HDFC bank saving account. He went in HDFC bank of his area and tried to deposit cash. But bank has asked to pay Rs. 100 extra for the deopsit of cash in other than home branch. So my friend has asked bank for written note for extra charges. But bank manager replyed theat"this is not policy of bank to give written note on charges".

So here in this forum, I would like to ask:-

1) Can they really charge for depositing cash by third party in other branch by Indian law?

2) And if it is not in the Indian law then what legal action should i take against bank?

Please help me out of this problem.
