HSBC Credit Card
Harrassment by HSBC Bank for a transaction, which I didn't do

Dear Sir,

I was holding one HSBC Gold Card No.: 4384 5999 1253 8302. In October I had requested for a Balance Transfer against my CITIBANK card. The same was approved on October 12 and I came to know from the HSBC Customer Care Executive that the draft was prepared on October 13 and despatched at my communication address. My outstanding was 'Zero' while requesting for a B.T. and I had not done any transaction on my card after that.

I was informed to check after 3 to 4 working days. However, I didn't receive the same till 20th of October and to my surprise I came to know that the draft was returned back to Chennai due to wrong address. I was again informed that the same would be despatched on 23rd of October and I would have received the same by the next 3-4 working days. However, since, I didn't receive the BT - I made the payment to Citibank. After that, I never received the B.T.

To my surprise, I started receiving calls (from February/March, 08) from HSBC Call Center Executive (s), as well as threatening calls from Collection Center Agents and asking me to make the payment of Rs.42, 000 (Rs.30, 000 interest), which was charged against that transaction, which I never received.

I had to spend my time arguing with everyone, writing numerous mails at [email protected] (I have all the copies) – but all my efforts were in vein, as no one seems to pay any attention to what I am saying – but everyone wanted me to make the payment. I had also requested them to check whether the issued B.T. was encashed by anyone or not – however, the reply was "it was not their duty to check and it would be a lengthy process", so no one is interested to get into the details.

Finally, I went to HSBC Branch at JMD Towers, Gurgaon and met one lady in Customer Service Desk and filed a formal complaint letter (Ref. No. 2808070208) in August when HSBC collection agents visited my house and threatened my family members. I got a call on August 23 from that lady that the matter is solved and bank has cancelled the B.T.

However, I received SMS mentioning that my outstanding on that card is still Rs.14, 839.57, which I later learnt from the HSBC Call Center that it was the interest amount, charged against the B.T., which was cancelled later on. I really failed to understand this and do not expect such kind of careless attitude from a reputed bank like HSBC Bank. I again tried to contact the bank, even sent a letter through courier to Mr. Rajnish Bahl (as published in www.hsbc.co.in) - but there was no response. I am still receiving calls to make the payment.

Please suggest what shall I do next. I can produce all the complaint letters, courier charged slip etc.

Thank you,

Amitava
