I feel insecure to travel by Kanyakumari express (6525/6526) due to the atrocities of unscruplus people who board the train daily from Krishnarajapuram to get down at Bangarpet in the evening and from Bangarpet to get down at Krishnarajapuram/Bangalore city in the morning for work (as they say).
I don t know the whereabouts of them but you can experience/witness their atrocities if you travel by Island express in unreserved compartments. They used to attack brutally by hitting/kicking on the faces of people who speaks against them.
They used to board the train and right from their entry will start scolding people using filthy language for allowing them to come inside the already jam packed unreserved compartments.
Once they gained entry they will start scolding people for not providing them place to sit. (It is ridiculous to ask for a place to sit since most of the days there won t be even place to stand)
Then they will spot some who used to speak against their dictatorial ways, gather their gang of four or five or even more sometimes and start brutally hitting/kicking on the face of their victim who will be helpless even to block their punches/kicks.
This will be continued on the other spotted victims and they happily get down at their station declaring their victory and saying that there will be nobody to raise voice against them and no one will question them even if they kill someone in the process.
On some occasions they used to throw the baggage, shoes of travellers out of the moving train.
My question for Indian railways is this:
Are we living in Afganistan or some nation like that where there is no law and the law enforcers are the biggest criminals who used to aide the crime to happen.
My analysis after consulting with long time travellers in this route reveals that:
This happens only in Island express (6525/6526) as i knew since there is no complaint from people who travel by Kochuveli/Ernakulam express, the reason being the time of travel of other trains will not allow them to form the group since most of them leaves office late as part of their work making the travellers of Island express the victims for their atrocities.
My suggestion is that:
As of my knowledge there is a train for Bangarpet from city railway station. It s timings can be changed to accomodate these late coming people or provide one more train late night for them.
Island express should not stop at Bangarpet and this has to be made public for their notice.
To verify the ground reality:
A few Railway police officers mostly youngsters should be deputed in mufty in all the unreserved coaches of island express to get first hand information of the ground reality.
The officers should be selected so that they are brave and they don t have any inclination towards the Bangarpet people.
These officers can be in the unreserved coaches from Krishnarajapuram to Kuppam and similarly in the reverse direction also.
They should not react to these people s comments and be a silent spectator to see what s happening.
This cannot be a single line complaint because it cannot be explained in a single line and i hope indian railways will take necessary action to ensure the traveller s safe and peaceful journey.
