Dear Sir/ Madam,
My experience below is not actually a complain but it is more like an awareness issue on the fact that though we are living in the 21st century but people in some parts of the world are still living in a barbaric and orthodox world surrounded with people who call them Raosaheb (which they no longer are), they refuse to speak to women because according to them its below their standard, believe in parda system, and many more.
The world has moved ahead but unfortunately people around me have not changed a bit. It been 3 months that I have moved down from Bangalore to Udaipur to be with my parents. However, things were going on fine probably because there that had been no need to interact with my neighbors until two days back.
We are renovating our ancestral property wherein we have well which also needs to be repaired. We have made a boundary around the well and are now planning to make a shed over it. The well is actually being used are a dump yard for throwing plastic bags and bottles. Therefore, our neighbors, also our so called relatives and real brothers who are:

Were requested to have the well cleaned as it comes in their portion of the land and people working in their building and hotel respectively throw dump into it. They also use the well water but are not contributing anything to repair it neither are we expecting them to but had request them to clean the well as they were spoiling it by throwing bottles and bags and also ask the employees working in their building and hotel not to throw anything into the well from henceforth.
Since, my father was out of station for some work my mother spoke to Mr. Jagjit Singh informing him about the well issue. According to him it was not his building employees instead the hotel staff who were throwing the muck in the well. Since the hotel is owned my Mr. Jagjit Singh’s real brother Ganga Singh, my mother requested if he could speak to him on her behalf and explain the concern. Which he refused as he wasn’t in talking terms with his real brother. We then called up the hotel to speak to Mr. Ganga Singh. My mother spoke to a very ill mannered Manager- Kishan Singh and he refused to give the phone to Mr. Ganga Singh and informed us that we also should call him only Rao Saheb. We somehow got the mobile number of Mr. Ganga Singh and I spoke to him. I introduced myself first then explained him the concern that we had regarding the well, to which he replied that he did not want to speak to me and informed me that I should I ask my father to speak to him and hung up. I then called up again and explaining that since my father was out I would have to speak to him. To which he replied that he did not want to speak to a lady as he was a Rao Saheb and Rao Saheb’s don’t speak to ladies and hung up. I tried his number several times but he refused to answer my call.
Since he had refused to accept my call I then sent a letter addressed to him explaining our concern (mentioned above) regarding the well. To which I got a reply that the no one with the name Ganga Singh stays here. Even then my letter was read.
After this experience I have jotted down my concerns.
• In spite of living in the 21st Century, people talk like this .i.e. that don’t want to speak to women coz its below their standards, forcing his employees and then other people to call someone Rao Saheb, etc. NOW this really needs an explanation because I have worked Hotels and no one ever has hung up a call on my face like this. Moreover, the reason for not speaking to me, is highly stupid rather barbaric. He is leaving in a State, which is run very efficiently by a Lady Ms Vasundhara Raje who herself belongs to a Royal family but I see no arrogance in her. And this gentleman who has nothing left (be it property, palace, fort etc) wants to be called Rao Saheb and is full of arrogance.
• Refusing to accept your own identity of Ganga Singh and even then opening the letter and reading it and taking no action. It is extremely unethical and now I wonder how he might be running a hotel.
• Talking in a ruthless manner to a lady who is supposedly your relative. Then insisting that he is Rao Saheb. Even I belong to a Rajput family and women are respected.
• Being ignorant about the fact that the well (from which even they take water) is being used as a second dump yard and causing health hazards for people who using that water, especially their guests staying in the hotel.
• In order to avoid the above concerns refusing to answer calls and also accepting the letters sent to them.
When we talk about being democratic, where are my human rights?
Hope my above concerns are either made aware to other people or at least some action towards someone ruthless behavior is taken.
If nothing is done about this, then am I sorry to say that we live in a country which is extremely tolerant to anyone kind of bullshit and people who want to do something are suppressed.
Moreover, I will not end this here if nothing is done from our side. It’s a liberal country and I will not be a part of this Tolerant Society. Someone has to do something.
