Old cell number cannot transfered to new handset

My mobile no is 9380756951.for the past two yrs.i have been using.due to some fault the handset got unusable.i purchased a new handset on 3o oct 08.i was told that my account is not update in records.till date 05 oct 08.my old number is not activated in my new handset.

as all my major communications are in this number, i request to give the connection immediately.
