Melbourne Airport Authority
Customs check removal of toileteris

I have my few query/ complaints about the Australian customs check policy at Melbourne airport.

I visited my son in Australia first time on 16/17Sept'07.

even after my honestly declaring carrying few packed spices during traveling on Melbourne by MH129 flight at airport the spices were removed and thrown in bin since it content Clove and that was not allowed.

I wish to ask Why it was not mentioned earlier.

where as Someindian family traveling in Australia Melbourne /Sydney their huge contains of 15 days tour grocery for the family of 8-10 people were not checked and they got all spices, rice, pulse, eatable checked in Melbourne/Sydeny, Rules should be same for all. Most of the student traveling takes sweets made from milk and are allowed, where in my case even after declaring on paper my small packets spices were removed.

No where it was mentioned that spice contain 'Clove' not allowed so I would not have taken and saved my money.

4. Why this differs?? Since we don’t get Indian spices every where in Melbnurne suburb I took sealed packets of spices to cook the Indian food for my son who I had not seen for years.

its ok if it is Policy I accept but

5.while returning from Melbourne on 6th 0015hours flight MH128 all my 2 Perfume 100/200ml bottles, shower gel gift box and shampoos, conditioners were taken away, I requested them to send by cargo they refused to do saying small items can not be send intrasit flights so nor they refund me the amount of $300-350 I spent my hard earned money on that/ I got gift from my son. This is very heart broken for a mother for an common men to have such great loss.

This is not done.

I had first time travel to Australia and have this bitter heart broken experience.

On my Malaysian Airlines tickets no.2321:477:696:6 place of Issue Pune India. It is clearly mentioned that “Medicine and toiletries in limited quantities which are necessary or appropriate for the passenger during journey such as hairspray, perfume bottles, and medicines containing alcohol may be carried. Many of these listed articles can be carried as air cargo provided they are packed in accordance with cargo regulation.

Sir I would request you to kindly look into this matter and return my all articles taken away by customs and send me by courier. While traveling from Thailand to India the items were removed by customs at airport and were sent to me safely in cargo and I got it.

When these items are prohibited to take in flight how come in Flight they sell perfumes, cigarates, huge Alchohal bottles at airport Duty free shop people carry with them because it is sealed by duty free shop that do not mean it do not have prohibited items.

Kindly explain and do justice needful to return all my items taken away by your airport authority at the address which taken out at Melbourne airport on 5october while check for 0015 MH128 flight.
