Multiple complaints of 5800XM, request replacement

Sir,

I’ve purchased a NOKIA 5800 xpressmusic phone on 23.06.09 with the IMEI no 354182028561346 from Venu’s Digital arcade, thrissur, kerala.

Upon purchase i found out that the battery that came with the device was not charging so i approached the shop. They informed that the battery was completely drained and it required manual boosting. So they replaced the battery.

Since then i’ve never had a peaceful day with the phone. I experienced one complaint after another, making the experience with my 5800XM an bitter one.

The complaints were:

· LOW BATTERY BACKUP OF THE PHONE: The battery lasted on an average of a day; on many instances less than that. For a phone only 1 week old this was pretty disappointing. One of the best features i’ve seen on online reviews of the phone was the remarkable battery life, but here i was left with a shadow of the praise. I’ve friends who use the same set, but under similar usage their sets last for an average of 2 days. I’ve also felt the phone heating up on usage.

· In addition i’ve experienced the sound from the earpiece of very poor quality. The voice was distorted and speech volume markedly low.the higher i turn the volume the poorer the sound became. The sound was anything but clear and audible. Also i didnt find this problem on other 5800’s.

· And then the phone software was crashing. While usage the phone freezes and the keys remain unresponsive, needed me to take out and then re-insert the battery for using it again. I am told that occassional software crashes are the rule with smartphones, but i dont think three or four per day would count as normal. This happens even when my phone firmware is updated to v21.

· One of the other software glitches were the phone not allowing to change profiles and to create a new profile. The phone freezes during the attempts.

I’ve had tried everything possible by me to correct these problems including restoring factory settings multiple times; but to no avail.

Conviced that there were some serious problems with my phone, on 22.07.09 i approached the TRICHUR NOKIA CARE CENTRE, poothole, thrissur (ASC:413_465550) for the rectification of the above complaints. My complaint was registered as job sheet no:413465550/090722/28.

After service they returned the phone to me on the same day, and upon inspection i found out that the problems were still persisting, including the software issue. So, obiviously not satisfied with the service, i returned the phone on the same day for re-service.

Later that day i was informed by the NOKIA CARE that the phone had some hardware issues which were causing the problems and the issues were out of their capacity to rectify. So they advised me to send the handset to the delhi factory for extensive repair. I agreed and the set was despatched to delhi on 22.07.09.

Since then i’ve been periodically checking with the nokia care thrissur for the status for the phone. Till this day i am informed that the phone is still in service in the delhi.

These conditions made me to belive that there were serious problems with my set. I am disappointed to say that during the only 2 weeks of my usage with the NOKIA phone i have been bugged with so many complaints that my experience with the phone is utterly dissatisfactory. For a phone which costs a hefty 18, 500 rupees, which i managed with a lot of hardships, i sincerly had expected a lot more quailty and performance from my phone.

Since all of the conditions are of in serious question to the quality of products as ascertained by NOKIA, i wish to have my faulty handset replaced with a good handset.

I really hope that you would respond to my request positively and make me believe that i’ve just been hit by bad luck and the my handset’s bad quality never represented the best of NOKIA, which i am entitled to enjoy just as any of the NOKIA customers. Buying a NOKIA 5800XM was one of my dreams which i pursued for a long time and when i finally realised it, it has turned into a sheer nightmare for me. For a company voted INDIA’S MOST TRUSTED BRAND, i sincerely expect you to take the necessary actions to replace my handset and to restore your lost reputation in my mind.
