Installation not done even after 2 weeks of purchase and many more

I bought an Onkyo Home theatre HTS 5100 from Reliance Digital Banjara Hills Road no. 12 store. Tilak Banerjee is the name of Sales guy who sold me the home theatre. I bought the HT on 30 Jul and till today 14 Aug it’s not been installed. First few days it was lying in the store I took the delivery on 04 Aug. Following are the problems I faced till date:

1. At the time of delivery product was packed in Lexus and Samsung boxes when I asked Tilak Banerjee told me that we don’t give original box for demo piece.

2. When I asked a Reliance store staff to take the box to my car, he lifted and dumped on the floor as if it was some waste stuff.

3. Tilak told me that demo person will come on 06 Aug. A person named Prabhakar came for demo he connected everything but couldn't give demo as there was load shedding that time. He himself opened the speaker box which was packed by Reliance Digital and one left surround speaker had some scratches which he noticed and noted down in his document.

4. I immediately called Reliance Digital store and a lady named Bhawna spoke to me. Without knowing the history of transaction she was arguing that I was shown the defect at the time of sale. I felt helpless at that time but later Tilak accepted that he also didn't know about these scratches and promised that he will try his best to get this one replaced which also has not been done till today.

5. Demo engineer Prabhakar set up the HT and assured me once the power is back it will play as he has done all the connections. While installing he put a thick plastic sheet over the amplifier and put the DVD player also TATA Sky set top box over it. Later power came and I played the HT but the sound was coming from only one centre speaker and nothing else was working. After few hours I felt burning smell and noticed that amplifier is very hot because it was covered with plastic sheet, DVD player and TATA Sky box. I immediately removed it and then I noticed it was specifically mentioned on the amplifier that don’t out anything over it. But Reliance digital intelligent Engineer installed it that way. I was lucky to save my amplifier. So, this shows that Reliance has so careless and inefficient technicians.

6. Prabhakar assured me that wiring and casing technician will come on 07 August but nobody came that day. I called him up on 08 August around 12:00 pm to check on what time casing and wiring person will come. He didn't have any idea about this. I called Tilak Banerjee and then he called me back after sometime saying that no one can come that day and next day was Sunday so the person will come on Monday only i.e. 10 August. Again I felt helpless and couldn’t do anything.

7. When I checked why is that the sound is coming from only centre speaker Tilak told me that intelligent engineer Prabhakar told him that there is a defect in my DVD player. I was surprised to hear this as Prabhakar couldn't demo me because it was power cut on 06 August when he came for demo then how can he say that HT was not working because of problem in DVD player. It was a ridiculous statement.

8. On 10 August another technical person names Shankar called me at 11:30am and told me that he will come by 1:00pm. I told him specifically to come by 1:00 pm and don’t be late as I had to leave for airport in the evening. But as usual this person came at 3:45pm and worked till 7:00pm but couldn't finish the job and I had to ask him to leave as I had to leave for airport.

9. On 11 august I came to know that Shankar has left for his home town and there is no one who can do this job. Reliance is such a big brand and its hard to digest that they run their store in Hyderabad with only one technician who has expertise in wiring and casing.

10. My living room wall length and breadth is 18 meters and Shankar told me that it will require 34 meters wire to fix all speakers. I couldn't understand why it would take 34 meters to fix them. I called Tilak Banerjee to explain me on this. He said that he would like to visit my flat and assured me that he will come on 13 August at 8:30 am. He didn’t turn up on time and when I called him at 9:00am he said he will be reaching very soon. I was waiting for him till 10:00am and then left for my office. He called at 10:30am that he has reached near my home and when I asked him why so late he said he met with an accident. He assured me again that he will come on 14 August at 8:30am. Today he again called me at 9:00am and told me that he couldn't come as doctor has asked him to take rest. He said he will come on 16 August. I was felt frustrated to the core. He could go to store work full day and morning he has excuse like Doctor asked him to take rest. He is in store even today. He was just trying to fool me with all his lame excuses. He even disconnected my call and is not taking my call any more. This is pathetic attitude. I am suffering because of Reliance Store employees inefficiencies and they are disconnecting my call only.

I feel cheated because of series of these incidents. There is no customer support, no accountability and ownership. It is one of the worst experiences I have had in my life for any consumer product. What I am feeling now is Reliance Digital is pathetic and worst in customer service and I wont enter its store even to buy a battery forget about referring to others.
