Our 50" Plasma TV, costing Rs. 3.35 lacs, has completely stopped working after 2 years. We bought an extended warranty for Rs 15, 000 at the time, which is not being honored by the company now. Customer service is giving us a run-around, sometimes claiming the TV screen has to be "imported" from abroad, hence the three month delay in addressing our complaint. At other times, we are told they are no longer making this TV, so the best they can do is give us a 3-4 yr old piece they have lying around, but with no warranty/guarantees. Then were told it would be replaced with a 52" LCD TV instead (costing Rs 2.20 lacs), but later this offer was withdrawn as "not possible." Overall, we are being given lies, delays, deception from their customer service office in Andheri for the last 3 months, probably because they do not want to bear the cost of delivering on their so-called "warranty." Moral of the story: Buy expensive Phillips products at your own risk, because if they stop working, you're on your own.
