Initially, one of the dealers misled me by saying that internet is available on Airtel's prepaid service in Delhi. Later I found out that it was untrue. So, I had to switch over to postpaid plan. I was allotted phone number 9958828320 by Airtel's very own outlet in Connaught Place. But even here, the salesman cheated me. Instead of guiding me correctly to choose a plan that just allowed me to browse the internet using the GPRS connection, he made me subscribe to Airtel's propreitary "Airtel Live" plan, which is much costlier.
The worse thing was that despite my requesting them in person at the same office, the salesman just asked me to use one of their phones and call up their call centre number '121'. This was tried but I couldn't get across to anyone that day. When I asked the salesperson to use the online terminal, he replied that the 'system' was not working.
About two weeks later I got across to 121 and spoke to someone who promised to get my plan changed and plain GPRS activated. But nothing, absolutely nothing has happened even up to three weeks after that call!!!
The company's website is another fraud. My attempts at registerting for 'My Account" have repeatedly failed. There is no help facility except through the call center. The company's website doesn't give any email address where one may send one's complaint.
In short, a company whose basic aim is to get your money, and to hell with service...
