This is the regular problem with Airtel. My bill cycle is 25th of the month and bill is payable by 16th of next month. Normally the bill contains some faults so I have to call the call centres and visit the local outlet several times before I make the cheque. But I see to it that the cheque is dropped in the box before the due date. But the troublesome feature with airtel is that their people start sending SMS and pre-recorded phone calls requesting for an early payment of the bill. This starts from the date of the bill. It is so irritating that one gets disturbs by such frivoulous calls. I have to explain the customer call centre 1. Pl dont sent any SMS or make any call as I am the regular pay master.2. I tell them the bill is under discussion with the bill and complaint is already there for wrong entries. 3. Pl dont call me as I am disturbed by such call. But they wont listen any such heed because things are not in their hands. This month also was not any exception. After getting the bill corrected etc. I dropped a cheque for RS.1150/- against the corrected amt of Ts. 1122/= in the drop box on 13th Oct - the due date is 16th. But I continued to receive the msgs of expediting the payments. On 18th - after 5 days of my droppiing the cheque, I told the customer care person about my dropping the cheque on 13th but he was inflexible that the cheqe was not reced till 18th. He registered a complaint and asked me to wait for 72 hrs = for three days for the reply. But the calls did not stop there. They continued ot pour in and disturbing me. I pursued it vigoursly and now I get that cheque has been recd and it is cleared on 21 st Oct. My concern is - 1. if the cheque was not cleared from the box whose fault it was. At least not mine. How come it has been cleared on 21st. 2. Why I am being disturbed from 15 days in advance for the payment. I have to rush form toilet or emergency to attend the call and I find some wailing heartless msg of making payment. 3. How I shall be compensated for the disturbances. I intend to file a suite against airtel in Consumer Forum. I am in late sixties and I am tied up in my activiteis. These disturbances are enough for my mental torture. 4. The customer care people feel that they want 3 days for the clearance of chequs. This is strange as no where in the world the customer is so much pressuriesed. Last date of payment printed on the bill is the final date for the customer. We are not bothered if the chque is sent for collection same day or next day. Nowhere in the world it happpenes that the last date in not honoured by the company. I want a clear cut policy decision and a compensation for the mental torture. Thanks
