Recharge Voucher not working

I got a new prepaid connection from Airtel (9810512965). After it was activated, I bought a recharge voucher for RS.216 from a reseller in Ardee City, Sector 52, Gurgaon, but their system did not accept the voucher. I went to an Airtel outlet in Galleria Market, DLF Phase IV, Gurgaon, and even they could not get the voucher to work though the voucher was found to be valid by the Airtel 121 service.

The Airtel outlet in Galleria charged me Rs 195 to start the initial balance to enable me to send and receive calls.

Now I am stuck with the Rs.216 voucher as it can be only used for a new connection. After following up for several weeks, the Airtel 121 service has asked me to return the voucher to the reseller. The reseller refuses to take back the voucher as the pin code on the voucher has been already scratched.

The overall impression I get is of dealing with a thoroughly incompetent, unscrupulous and unprofessional company. They are willing to put a customer through such harassment for just Rs. 216. I also have a Reliance connection and have never faced such issues with them.

It is a matter of principles now. I do not intend to leave it at this. I will drag this company through the consumer courts and check if it can be converted into a Class Action type of complaint. Such companies have no right to exist in a liberalized India.
