Airtel
Unethical collections process

I write this expecting your perusal of the entire matter and with an intent to not be harassed for what I am not responsible for.

This noon I received a call from an Airtel mobile number. The caller, a lady named Rekha, claiming to be from Airtel Collections asking for A, who had been my colleague in my previous organisation.

I asked them what this was regarding and was told that it was to realize an outstanding bill of A, whose number had been disconnected four months ago. Upon enquiring further, I found out that they had picked my number from the dialled list of A which was in their pocession and also that they had several other numbers who they would be calling from that particular list.

I assume, that I was in no way obligated to co-operate in the interrogation and to help them trace the person in question (A), I questioned their very purpose of having called me in the midst of an already disturbing situation that I am in, owing to my own personal issues.

The lady just dismissed my query and stated, "This is none of your business and you should know better". This statement infuriated me, but the lady just disconnected the call.

Upon calling back, a third person named Hegde came on line and claimed to be the Assistant Manager at Airtel. Upon asking for their details questioning their motive he asked me to visit them at Divyashree Chambers, for any further queries.

I have called up Airtel and verified with them, that the call was from a third party Collections Agency. I have registered a complaint with Airtel Customer Care (Ref # 588923292)

I have also registered a complaint with the Nodal Office (Ref # 29424628), questioning the practice.
