Jun 17: I happened to lose my mobile and called up the customer care to block the SIM lest it be misused by the people who managed to grab it from me. I was rather surprised to hear a voice which was strangely courteous as I frankly expected Airtel customer care people to be nasty as always. This particular person smartly said that he will have my SIM blocked in an hour and all I need to do is to go to the nearest Airtel showroom when time allows and get the duplicate SIM.
I tried calling my lost number after 4 hours to find that the number was still not blocked. Called up customer care again twice, both the times talking to different personnel and getting their trademark uncourteous "don't care" attitude responses. Managed to get one of the personnel's name though and she insisted her name was 'simply' Veena working in the Airtel showroom in/near Divyashree towers, Bangalore. They never seem to take ownership of their misleading information and to top it all, the customers are treated like dirt. What more do I deserve for getting tied up with these people for more than a couple of years?!
