Dear Sir/Madam,
Last month I got a Airtel Prepaid sim card and I just use it sparingly. All of a sudden I started getting Jokes and other tips by SMS from Airtel. Having used cell phones for more than 10 years in India, US and UK so far, I know what I've opted for and what I didn't subscribe for and in this case I'm sure that I didnt request for this paid service where Airtel charges 1 Rupee for every SMS or per day.
After searching on the internet I found that this is quite common 'trick' played by Airtel making money out of innocent customers. Most of the customers may not consider it as a big issue (just 30 to 60 rupees), but if Airtel does it to almost all its (60 million or 6 Crore) customers, they will be making Rupees 360 Crores just by this one foul play (6, 00, 00, 000x60=360, 00, 00, 000).
On behalf of all affected customers, I request you to kindly take action againt Airtel or atleast warn them against such malpractices.
Sincerely,
Srinivasan Jayabalan
