I received a call on my landline yesterday. There was some Om Prakash Tyagi on the other side claimed to be calling from Delhi. He started telling me that he is some investigationg officer and there is a 420 case filed against me for cheating some SFC company in Dec'2009. He told me that summons were sent many times to my residence and I had not attended the court hearing. It is a comtempt of court and now he has a non bailable warrant against me. When I started querrying on the issue he told some Harvinder Singh, advocate has filed the case against me and he doesn't have details of the same. He also gave me some case no. and told me that the copy of the same can be collected from near by Police Station. He told me that the line may get cut and gave me his mobile no. to call him next time, I told him that I would be going to the police station right away and suddenly he told that they have not yet sent the case to the police station. He asked me to share my current address and I queried about his identity. He started shouting at the top of his voice and cut the phone.
After some 20 minutes I got the call again. Now it was a different voice with the same name and he was able to tell my current address.
Immediately I went to the police station and the Police Sub-Insptector asked me to dial the no. from my mobile. I was reluctant but the SI insisted. I called and the line got connected and the SI gave him nicely on the phone. Unable to bear the inspector's abusive words Om Prakash Thyagi disconnected the call. The inspector told that they are all frauds trying to pull money from your side. If you are scared they will take the advantage of it. He also assured that I am not going to get the call again and not to worry much about it.
The part that is worrying me is
1. The callers have the track of all the addresses where I have stayed earlier.
2. They had called on my land line no., how did they get it.
3. I have been to Delhi only once during my honeymoon & I dont have any dealings there.
Please let me know if any of you also have got such calls and how to deal with it.
