I applied for a new passport via Speed Post Passport Service, at Chanakyapuri, New Delhi on 21-Aug.
I have two issues:
a. I am confused how to track whether passport office has started processing on my application. The tracking number format mentioned on the (computerized) receipt issued by the post-office is not as the passport office's website is expecting. Eg, the receipt mentions these numbers:
a. Receipt No.: this is the tracking number using which I can track the status at post office's website. It shows that the item is delivered.
b. File no.: 110W
c. Key no.:
The passport website seems to accept a tracking number matching above but it doesn't accept the above number as it is. I changed the above format as given below:
110W where last two digits are for last-two digits of the year of application.
If I use W at passport's website, the site says the given number is either invalid or the information is not available. So I am unsure if my way of interpretation of tracking number is correct or not!
2. How much time does passport office take from the date the speedpost (carrying application form) is received and the status of the application is made available at their website for tracking. In my case, ~10 days have elapsed but there is no status information is available.
