BSNL
Caller Tunes

I, Pitam Chatterjee, with mobile No.9433249895 received three SMSs on 18/08.

The first with "n", the second with "Dear Subscriber, you have been charged Rs.28 for ur BSNL tunes. Enjoy the service for the next 30 days. Ur next bill date is 17-09" and the third with "Dear Subscriber, you have been charged Rs.12 for ur BSNL tune request. Enjoy the service for the next 30 days. Ur next bill date is 17-09".

I have not subscribed to any caller tunes. BSNL has imposed this on me and have deducted Rs.40 from my account.

The same case happened to my friend P. Dasgupta with mobile No.9433719375 on 16/08. He also received the three messages and was deducted Rs.40 from his account. In his case, he had shut down his mobile the whole day on 15/08. When he started his mobile on 16th, he received the three messages. He also did not subscribe to any of the caller tunes.

BSNL has started a unhealthy tactics of gaining profits overnight. If the company charges Rs.40 each from say 1 million customers it gains Rs.40 million in a single day. This should be stopped.

Moreover I can not deactivate my caller tune. I had called the BSNL helpline a number of times since that day. I sent 7 SMSs with "BT DACT", "BT DCT" and "Unsubscribe" to 56700 and was charged Rs.14 at Rs.2 per SMS. They always reply back with "Usage Keyword. Keyword (s) are %K". I even phoned to 56700 and heard recorded options with no fruitful result and was charged Rs.6 in the process. For the last few days the helpline are saying that my complaint is under process, but the tunes are still carrying on.
