Land line bill
Unfair Bill

I had taken an Airtel land-line cum internet connection a few years back. I had opted for a limited download, and they had offered a certain number of free call with this. Later on my requirement for download increased so I requested them to provide me a Plan with unlimited download. They changed my Plan, but informed me that the new plan would not have any free calls. In order not to incur additional cost (since I have another land-line connection) I removed the handset from their socket, and thus have not used their land line connection for several years.

All through this period I have received their bills for the service provided and I have been clearing these regularly.

Now all of a sudden they have started demanding a totally uncalled payment of about Rupees 1700 against the land line bill. I have been getting frequent calls from their executives about this against my number (0124-4257727).

I would like to know the following:

1. How can they raise a bill for a service that I have not used?

2. Why have they not raised this demand all these years, and are suddenly demanding this large amount.

3. If I was incurring some charge, was it not their duty to inform me earlier to enable me to take adequate steps.

In my opinion this behavior amounts to a blackmail, and they must be sternly warned against such unfair service.

NOTE:

I would also like to point out that their helpline (4444121), as well as the online complaint websites are utterly useless. After pressing numerous keys one is left pressing a key again and again, and the complaint is not registered. Same is the case with their website. After filing the details, firstly one is faced with the problem of a very small space allowed for a complaint, and even after complying with this, one is left to keying in the identification code again and again, and the complaint does not get registered.

Kindly try these avenues to experience the frustration of customers.
