Airtel Landline
Outgoing calls not working

Airtel land line and broadband customer continues to be pathetic...

Our land line and broadband connection was activated about 4 weeks ago by Airtel. As we live in an apartment complex, we wanted Airtel to activate the intercom on our land line.

Once the intercom was "activated", we ended up having unintended troubles with the land line and the intercom has also not been working properly. We cannot make any outgoing calls on the land line and we cannot get any incoming calls on the intercom!

We made a "service request" on June 13. Nothing happened, other than getting SMS messages with service request number 47553690. We followed up, by then our service request was closed, declaring that the problem had been resolved - this was not true. They "reopened" the service request after we complained again, saying our problem will be attended "on priority". Days passed, our frustration grew. Airtel on June 20th closed the service request without resolving the problem (one more time)!! Airtel's pathetic customer service and just outright unethical practice was out there for all to see. We got a new service request and we are once again on priority!

It seems to me that Airtel has outsourced the field operations to a contractor or a sub (sub) contractor. Perhaps, the field folks are gaming the system by "closing" a service request to avoid getting noticed for their inefficiency.

The problem we are having does not appear to be anything unique, but someone needs to pay attention and fix the issue. I wish there was a good competitor to Airtel in the Bangalore area for land line and broadband services because Airtel SUCKS!
