Non Return of money (partial)

I opened policy on my wife name by paying Rs. 50, 000/- first installment. rest two installments I could not pay. after 3 years policy lapsed and HDFC deducted Rs 38, 141/- from my first installment and returned only 11, 849/- only. Before closing policy they not told us this much loss will be there. Policy No. 11351548 HDFC standard life insurance.

I contacted HDFC and they are not giving proper justification for deduction. They use our money for 3 years. Please help me out
