Policy remains lapsed even long after renewal premium paid

The premium in respect of my policy was due in March and I had been getting reminders regarding the same from the company, to be more specific from one Mr. Vijay Singh Chawan, who introduced himself as the Area Manager, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, Mumbai. He kept on reminding me now and then since May that the insurance premium was overdue and the policy is lapsed.

Having assured him that I would make the payment in the second week of October I again received a call from Mr. Chawan as expected.

On 19th October one Mr. Rajiv Kumar Sahu (the person sent from Bhubaneswar Branch, Orissa, as told by Mr. Chawan), collected a cheque for Rs. 15, 000/- drawn on Central Bank of India, bearing number 038039, dated 19th October. In a couple of days, Mr. Chawan called me informing me that since the cheque is not a “at par” one, it would take a lot of time for clearance and that we were already running behind time as the last date for the revival of the lapsed policy was 26th October.

On 25th October Mr. Rajiv Kumar Sahu collected the renewal premium amount of Rs. 15, 000/- in cash from my residence against the deposit slip number 38601435 dated 25th October signed by him.

Still I am receiving the reminder SMS and awaiting the said cheque as of now i.e. 7.30 PM, 27th Nov. 2010.
