I have been IDBI customer since July 18th when I joined job at Chennai. I used this account as my salary account till April and after that maintained good amount in this account.
I was out of India for 4 years and came back to Kanpur in Sep 2010. I have used all my cheques by then and my ATM card expired. To receive them I tried to update my Kanpur address at IDBI bank's Phoolbagh branch. First day, I was asked to attach identity proof which has my Kanpur address (I don't understand the reason behind this, as long as customer can identify himself, he should be allowed to update whatever address he wants. ) Anyways, a rule is a rule. I provided them all the required details next day. It is around 25 days since then and I have called the bank approximately 10 times and all the time I get the response that "Chennai branch has not provided the approval, we will get in touch with them and get the approval before EOB".
I have a substantial amount in this account and because I don't have cheques and ATM, my money is locked. All my tries to make them understand has failed.
I have decided to get out of this bank as soon as I am able to do so.
