Not working properly

I have an HP laptop which i bought about 11 months ago and it has vista in it. and my targus mouse about a month a month old. i have to connect it via the bluetooth (add and remove bluetooth device) everytime i switch on my computer. and with in a few minutes it gets disfunctional..the light underneath the mouse also disappears. and in the manual i received with the device doesnt show how to install the mouse in a vista program.rni need help..
