Will the PNY Geforce graphics card damage a PC? My PNY GeForce 8400 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI burned out (terrible burning smell from the PC). The card was less than a year old, running in a standard Dell Dimension PC. The PC shut down and would not restart until I removed the card. The card fan, cheaply fastened to the PNY card, had fallen off the card onto the motherboard. It could have caused considerable damage. What else on this card is substandard and a threat to the PC. Is the PNY GeForce series safe?
Then PNY would not honor the warranty for the card even though it had been registered with them since the day it was purchased. They insisted on the original receipt. I was lucky in that the store was able to produce a copy of the year old receipt so I could be covered by the warranty.
