Ishwar Lal Bhatia
Illegal sim failure & non-cooperation by Customer Centre

Dear Sir,

I have a mobile No. 9810566008. I got the plan changed from post-paid to pre-paid at the end of September as the earlier plan was upto 21st October. 2010. I was given a new sim which was working till 29th October, whereafter the handset started flashing 'sim connection failure'. I went to your Airtel Centre in Laviya Nagar Market from where I had got the new sim. The person dealing with the change of plan and the Assistant Manager were most unhelpful and point blank told me that 'new sim cards' are not available and they cannoty help. Besides, if I have to keep this number, I have to get a new sim from Airtel Centre with 14 days and at present only Gurgaon centres have the sim.

I told them that I am 67 years old - a senior Government officer having retired as Chief Vigilance Officer from Govt. of India, and am not in a position to go to Gurgaon, they flatly refused to help and on contrary were almost making a fun of my demand for a new sim from that outlet. In frustration I dialled the customer care from the outlet itself. At first, they refused to come to the telephone to discuss with airtel customer and thereafter eventually I was told by the Customer Care Executive - Mr. Raman that I can take a chance at that outlet within the next 4-5 days. I tried to ascertain the reason for disconnection and was told that since no one picked up the landline phone on 2-3 tries made by the Airtel authorities, they could not verify the address. This is a ridiculous manner of checking the address. I told them t6hat I have another mobile No. 9810199122 andn Airtel Landline 40514899, but they said that each telephone has separate verification.

I am shocked at the service being provided by Airtel Centre Malviya Nagar and Airtel Executive and would like you to look into this for getting me a new sim at the earliest, failing which I will be forced to bid good-bye to Airtel and switch over to other telecom company. It is rather surprising that Airtel which is trying to control the international markets in sucha large scale, is unable to satisfy its national clients. What a shame! I can be contacted on my mobile No. 9810199122. ILBhatia.
