I bought a Godrej 1.2T window A.C from Vijay sales, S.V. Road, Goregaon (W) on 21/6/08 .The model No is GWC14G2 and the chassis No Is 27680003955. After purchase no one from the company came for the free servicing, it was only upon calling them they used to come. Moreover all they did in the name of servicing was to clean the front grill filter. A soon as one year is over, I get a call to do an AMC with the company. I do an AMC with sainath enterprise in Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
1) In the month of October barely 15 months of purchase of A/c there was a circuit problem and it had to be replaced. (compl no 615732). I called up the helpline and told about the AMC done. I came to know that, sainath enterprise is not authorised service agents and that everything was fraud. I fail to understand how that shop in Navi Mumbai (I stay in malad) got to know that my A/c is over a year old and landed on my door to sign an AMC contract.
2) In the month of January (compl no 621586) the compressor stopped working. Again it came as a surprise because it was not even two years since the purchase of the product and a compressor is supposed to last for a long time before it conks off
3) In the month of November (compl no 648359) I had given a call for routine servicing. the machine was working perfectly. The servicing of the machine was done. On the contrary of the cooling efficiency of the machine being improved, it deteriorated. The engineer inspected the machine and said there was a gas leakage. If there was a gas leakage, why wasn’t it detected at the time of servicing? The leak was plugged and the machine was kept under observation for two days. When the engineer came to install, he said that the entire coil was damaged and that it was better if the coil was changed. The engineer tells me after he has done the repairing and charging for it too!! So now i come to know that the entire coil has been damaged that too its just over 2 years of the purchase of machine. No written report for the same was made. The machine was installed but still there was no cooling. on the second day there was some strange noise from the machine, the switch tripped and there was some smoke emerging too. Again the engineer inspected and said that the compressor is gone and needs replacement. This is the same compressor that was replaced in the month of January so the compressor is not even a year old. The compressor was changed but again no written report of the same was made and given to me.
In the month of December i had sent an e mail to the company enlisting the above points but the company didn’t have the decency to even acknowledge my mail, leave alone responding to it.
4) Now in the month of march there is gas leakage problem and now the company says i need to change the cooling coil by spending 4000Rs!!
I need some answers from the company,
1) Why does the machine give frequent problems?
2) Are substandard parts used in the machine?
Every time i get a standard that since my place is situated close to a creek (“ Khaadee”) the quality of the air is not good and hence the frequent problem. Does giving this answer absolve the company of all responsibilities???
5) I got in touch with Mr. Atul Sharma from Godrej. He said he will look at the history and get back to me. I sent him an e mail on his personal e mail ID on 31/3 explaining in detail the entire chronology of events. On 7th april He gets back saying he has gone over the history of my machine and the cooling coil needs to be changed. the cooling coil cost is 5140 (initially mentioned by the engineer and the service cent as 4000) but with consideration the company will do it for 3048!!! that too with only 6 months warranty!!!
Now i don’t know what to do? what if on the 7th month again there is a gas leak? Do i have to change the cooling coil again? is this some sort of con job going on over here? I really feel cheated by such a big name as Godrej
