BLUE BIRD FOODS (DAMERARA SUGAR)
Refined sugar coloured brown and sold as damerara suga

I bought BLUE BIRD FOODS (DAMERARA SUGAR) from Star Bazar which is at Thane. The cost of which was Rs.25. The packet clearly said that it contains DAMERARA SUGAR. But on opening the packet it was plain refined sugar coloured brown and sold as damerara sugar. In fact on lightly rubbing the sugar against the fingers the colour came off to expose the refined sugar.

For those of you who do not know what is Brown sugar/Damerara sugar:

Demerara sugar is a type of unrefined sugar with a large grain and a pale to golden yellow color. It is suitable for a number of cooking and baking projects, and tends to be very popular as a sweetener for tea and coffee.

This is just outrageous and blatant lie on the part of the producer. They should not be allowed to mislead the consumers like this. Strict action should be taken against the producer they should change the name of their product.
