Scare tactics

Nightmarish is not a strong enough word for what I went through last night. I simply was trying to access McAfee, via the internet, and was immediately having a conversation with someone with very broken english. I had a simple? about my account with McAfee. I was told that they could help me with it and was asked to fill in info. they put on the screen. I said I only had a question and he said that it was necessary to fill it out. When credit card info. came up to fill in, I asked why should I put this info. in. He said to pay for it. I told him I didn't call to buy anything, I just have a question. I did not put my credit card info. in but by the end of the conversation I was sure they could find out anything about me. I was then transferred to someone else who assured me he could help. Meanwhile no one had asked what my question was. He then proceded to show me how my computer was corrupted and it was only a matter of pretty much hours until my computer crashed. It was very, very hard to understand him. I realized pretty fast that this was all about trying to sell me something. Indeed, a 3 yr. contract was $400 and he made it sound like was there wasn't anything they couldn't help me with and I shouldn't trust just any tech support company. I told him that after I talked to my husband and looked into the company I'd get back in touch if I decided to proceed. I was imediately put in touch with a supervisor and he asked what do you want to know about the company? It was a ridiculous question and I felt like a hostage. I told him that I didn't call them for any tech support and that I didn't like their scare tactics. After researching this company I found my instincts were right.
