Hi,

I moved to Chennai last year (April) and ever since I've been looking for a broadband Internet connection. I was in touch with one of the Airtel executive. But he couldn't help me much till June 18 as the DP box was full and no way they could provide a connection. On June 18th he confirmed that there are free ports available and he can provide the connection.

On June 19th he came to my residence, filled the application form, took the copy of my passport for verification & a sum of 1300 Rs. He promised that the connection will be given in 24 hours to 48 hours max.

I live alone and work on GMT hours (12:30 PM to 21:30PM). Nobody showed up on 20th June instead I left note of my contact numbers on my door.

So, assuming that the connection will be given on June 21, I applied for leave and informed the executive about the same. I had also requested him to provide the connection by 12 PM so I can go to work and cancel my leave.

On 21st June, when I called the executive on 10:30 AM, he said that the people are on their way and the connection will be provided in few hours time. But nothing happened and I called him over and over again at 11:30, 12:10, 13:45, 14:48, 15:30, 15:55, 16:00, 16:20, 16:30, 17:55, 18:00, 18:15 only to hear that the Airtel people are close to my home and the connection will be given in few hours. Well, he stopped responding to last few calls. But when I called him from a different number, he answered and mentioned that he was in a meeting and couldn't respond.

I had a serious discussion with him and he said that there are problem in fixing the cable and the connection will be given by 11 the next morning.

I had applied leave on 22nd June and everything continued as the previous day. at 11:30 he confirmed that the Airtel people will be at my place in few minutes. I had called him on 13:30, 13:32, 15:18, 15:36, 16:40, 17:30, 18:00, 18:23, 19:19, 19:33, 19:44, 20:14, 20:36, 20:37, 20:51, 20:53, 21:16, 21:18, 22:27, 22:32. Apparently, the last few calls he stopped responding.

The best part was, I called the Airtel customer care (914444444121) to see what they have to say. The telephone executive said that the status shows as connection not feasible and the status was updated on 20th June!

I called the executive's manager and he failed to respond to my messages.

on 25th June, 27th June, I received a message saying,

"Thank you for choosing Airtel broadband. Your reference no.is CH1296741. Your request is being process. We will revert to you within 48 hours post ascertaining the technical feasibility. For queries, call 1800-1-3-0121."

When I asked the executive for the money back, he said I will receive it 15 days, but when I start shouting at him, he said that I am the worst customer he ever know and I will receive it when I receive it.

On 3rd August, I received a courier from Airtel which I refused to take without knowing what it is as I decided to move the same to the court of law. I am in process of filing a case against Airtel to claim damages on:

1. Loss of my 2 pay days.

2. For waiting 2 days at home for nothing but calling to her them lie.

3. For taking my 1300 Rs money and absconding.

4. For false commitments on providing the Internet connection.

5. For saying it's not feasible as I am sure my neighbour had Airtel connection and the executive confirmed that there are open ports as my neighbour cancelled his connection.

In spite I mailed this details to Airtel I receive no response. Only once they called me to know what happened and they said they'll check with the executive and come back but never happened. They are rude and almost threatening. Not sure if they have educated people or goons working for them.

People, please avoid Airtel Broadband. They're are real frauds. Well, I was happy with their services in Bangalore. But in Chennai, they rob in day light with false promises and their poor customer service. Crap to the core. I will keep this post updated on the case details soon.
