Airtel broadband-wrong bill and harrassment

Dear sir/Ma'am,

This is with respect to the broadband connection which we had taken from airtel in the end of march.

Account no. 16442325

Starting: 23rd march

Plan requested for: Unlimited

The plan given was: impatience 799 with 2mbps of speed, and free dsl limit of 5gb - stating that there is not much difference in download limit, but speed was much better with the Impatience and that for our requirement this plan was ideal.

And the airtel representative helping me said that this plan was enough for daily 1-2 hours of internet browsing not involving regular downloads and we could always switch to unlimited plan but speed was not good in unlimited plan, taking an advance rental of rs.799 from us.

When we asked for a receipt for the modem they said it is not issued and they refused to give any receipt. Later I found that airtel is issuing illegal modems!

for the first 15 days of normal usage (1 hour daily of checking mails and social networking websites) they sent a bill of rs.4802! also the speed was extremely poor! when we asked them to justify the bill they said that even if you check mails it takes up to 2 gb per day! we are not technical people and trust the representative to give the right information. When we asked the representative about the ideal plan he should have told us that even mails use a lot of units instead he misguided us.

Also they never issued us a detailed bill in time so we could verify this.

Then we immediately put in a request for change in plan and opted for an unlimited plan. They assured us the change will be done asap. We continue to use our internet assured that now no fraud can happen. At the end of the billing cycle they sent a bill of rs. 10, 463! stating the previous balance and current month's usage. When we checked on the plan it had still not been changed!

also they disconnected our connection without a proper resolution. We kept trying to get help to resolve it but to no avail. How do we as consumers prove that the airtel people are issuing escalated bills? how do we prove we DID not use as many units as quoted in the bill. While we are not very adept at telecom technology, basic knowledge refuses to believe that checking e-mails and social networking can cost so much! if that were the case the telecom companies would never make profits with unlimited plans, public browsing cafes would not be so cheap!

to add to this different people from the airtel department started harrassing us without giving a proper resolution. Recently one man tried to force himself inside our house, and started threatening us over the phone.

We have no problems in paying the correct amount if it is just and proper resolution is given.

Telecom companies are misusing the system and also resorting to illegal means.

This company issued a modem to us with no registration papers, receipt whatsoever!

please help us in resolving this as airtel people have resorted to harrassment.
