Incorrect billing, no itemized bills, harassment

I was an Airtel Broadbandi, Bangalore, user for nearly two years. The fixed line number allocated was 42115300. Throughout I faced minor issues with the service (bill not delivered, lack of automatic upgrade, no automatic change of billing address even though the internet connection was shifted! etc.). The internet connection was however stable and speed was as desired.

Billing issue

In June and July I received a bill for Rs. 800 (Rs 400 per month) for local circle calls. I refused to pay the bill unless I got itemized call details since I rarely use the land line and have no local contacts. I used to get a call from Airtel almost every alternate day for about a month inquiring whether I had paid the bill and my response each time was "Give me itemized bills and I will make the payment". At the end of the call airtel rep always promised me itemized bill. The bill never arrived. Finally I lost my temper and was angry on two calls. This time they did send me an email with by billing invoice. No itemized call details! After that they disable the connection. I complained again and this time the rep said we can't provide itemized call details! I needed internet badly so I went ahead made the payment and things were smooth. I did not get call charges worth a rupee in the next months.

However in the month of October - November during which time I was out of town for 20 days I was surprised and shocked to receive a bill of approximately Rs 1000 for local calls. I was furious. I complained refused to pay till call details records were provided and the same cycle continued. I did not get the call records! Finally I had it with Airtel and I asked for cancellation of the connection.

After a month an agent from airtel came to my place for final settlement. I told him that I'll pay if I get call detail records. He agreed and asked me to file a complaint with customer care which I promptly did.

I got no reply for about over a month.

Harassment

After a month suddenly in the morning I got a call from Delhi. A person claiming to be a section officer for Delhi police started firmly questioning me on my personal details and asked me why I was not in Delhi High Court. I was naturally shocked and asked him what is this regarding. He said did you not get two court notices. I said no. Then he told me

Bangalore police were on their way to arrest. Me and my family were thouroughly shocked with what was happening. He then gave me a number of another person who claimed to be a

high court advocate while refusing to divulge any information. I called the lawyer who then told me that Bharti Airtel has filed a case against me for non payment of dues and to

ld me that they were filing criminal charges for not appearing in Delhi court hearing which just finished in Delhi. I had never received the notice which I told her. She said sh

e has proof. I told her that the only proof acceptable is my signature and that instead of police coming to me I am going to the police with there two numbers. She hung up at th

is. Next the alleged section officer from Delhi called. He told me that he would make sure that nothing happens if I pay up in half an hour. I agreed just to get some advice fro

m my dad who happend to be a CID officer. He immediately told me that this was just a scam to force me to pay up. After half an hour the alleged police officer calls back and as

ks me if I paid up. I told him I didn't and asked him for his full name and rank and posting. He got furious and started abusing me calling me a thief stealing from Airtel. I to

ld him that I know he is just a collection agent for airtel and I am not afraid he could do what he wants at which point he started using vulgarity. I told him about my dad bein

After this incidednt I have again placed three different complaints to airtel one for harrasment, and two for itemized bill and they continue to send me the billing invoice. I t

ried to contact airtel officials higher up but the reps just send me on a three hop drive from R.T.Nagar to Jayadeva Hospital to Domlur. Each office replies that they will resol

Should I go to police or should I go to a consumer court. I have been wronged on three accounts, incorrect billing, lack of transparency and harrassment.
