I am a resident of Bangalore and travel by Auto Rickshaws daily from my office to home. Its 8 km distance one way and with a fair meter, the auto fare comes to around Rs 70 - 75. Today I travelled as usual from office to home by an auto whose meter stopped working when it reached Rs 50. When we reached, I told the auto driver that this was less than the usual fare and the actual fare comes to around Rs 70 - 75. Saying this I handed him a Rs 100 note. He returned Rs 10. I protested that he should return the correct amount ie Rs 25 but he wasnt ready to. He kept saying that the actual fare is Rs 90. This is so NOT true. The fare never goes beyond Rs 80 even with tampered meters. But he did not listen to me and kept arguing. Being an alone girl I could not do anything about it at that time. But I took his Auto rickshaw number which is: KA 05 - AA3389. The is definitely not the first case of Auto Rickshaw deceiving that I have encountered. But now I am frustated with it and need justice.
Hoping some action will be taken against this.
