On 24th Nov at 07:01:59 pm, I received the following SMS on my mobile number 9890061462 (prepaid) -
"Thank you for subscribing to Hello Tunes service. You have been charged Rs.30 for 30 days. If you wish to stop Hello Tunes call 543211808 (Toll free). Sender: 543211 Message centre: 919829003333"
I was shocked to see my prepaid balance debited by Rs.30/- since I had not subscribed to such hello tunes. My husband immediately sent a reply SMS to the above toll free number for credit of Rs.30/- immediately otherwise I will take the matter to the Consumer Forum. I was further shocked to see my account debit by Rs.3/- for sending this SMS. After few minutes I received a call from Airtel. One of the officials of Airtel said "Sir are you not satisfied with the hello tunes service" To this statement, I replied just credit my Rs.30/-. You people have literally stolen my money from my prepaid balance. To this the official asked me to wait for 30 seconds, so that he can connect the line to his Manager. However, after a short while neither the Manager turned up nor the official assured me of crediting my money. On the contrary the official advised me to lodge a complaint with 121.
I was left with only Rs.1.97 balance after the debit of Rs.30 Rs.3 from my prepaid account. I could not make any emergency calls on that day. The company has forced me to lodge a complaint against Airtel since till date I have not received any credit nor the refusal of the credit with reasons thereof. Unless we approach the consumer forum we will not get justice.
Its really surprising to note that I have to lodge a complaint with Airtel for no mistake on my part. I have to do all such exercise to get my money back. People don't do such exercise and it becomes a profit of the company. The Airtel has a wide customer network across the country. If the company debits Rs.30/- from the balance/mobile account of its customers say atleast 25% to 50% of its customers daily, it is earning a good sort of profit. People ignore this minor amount and it becomes a profit margin of the company. It is nothing but a sort of secret robbery which the company management is doing in order to increase its revenue.
In view of above, I pray for the credit/refund of Rs.33/- only plus the action on the company management who are involved in such secret robbery. The question is not of Rs.33/- but the attitude of the company to raise its profit by cheating its customers. The matter may also be referred to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
Waiting for a favourable reply.
