Lured by the brochure with my card statement, I had purchased a Polaroid 7 megapixel i733 digital camera against my SBI Card No.4317541044811001 during the month of April from Compact International, Mumbai. It was a gift purchased for my niece and as she was out of station, the packing of the said item was opened as late as the beginning of this month, only to find out that the camera doesn’t work at all! As I wasn’t provided with any service center information or any warranty card with detais, it took me some time before I could locate the only authorized center on 44 Hajra road in Kolkata. They said they would fix the problem but asked for some valid document of purchase. Now I neither have a purchase invoice, nor do I have the name of the item reflected upon my credit card statement. I consider this a height of insincerity and negligence. Why should SBI promote a company so irresponsible?
I would like to point out that it is extremely important even from the legal viewpoint. If tomorrow I am challenged by a cop to explain my possession of the said camera, I really don’t have suitable explanation.
My calls to the SBI Card call center in this regard went grossly unanswered or finally ended up hunting for someone to pick up the call and answer.
