PNB bank misplace the DD

We have sold a laptop to the customer. He was given the SBI D.D. for the payment. We depaosited the D.D. in our company account branch of PNB in kharagpur. The bank staff misplaced the D.D. somewhere. He was unable to find the D.D. Finally the branch manager given a letter to mentioned that they have misplace the D.D. Then we called the customer & submit the letter for claim a new D.D.. But the customer's working company IOCL financial Head told to him that he will calim for new D.D after six months. Once D.D. validity time expires, how can they apply for a New D.D.. The laptop delivered the customer already. The six months also over. Please if anybody know's how can i will get the money. Help me
