HD DVR still stinks!

Dear DirecTV:

Delay after delay, in terms of both hardware and installation over more than two weeks, we were scheduled to finally have a DirecTV DVR installed on a Sunday. And even then with the installer was 2 hours late, we were ready to overlook the numerous frustrations in order to finally get our promised install.

Our noon to 4pm (3rd) appointment did not occur until the installer arrived late at 6pm. He then informed us that we owe ANOTHER $60 for DVR installation and would not install without immediately writing a check. This additional fee was not part of our agreement or the Dtv promoted free professional installation. Why was this not pre-qualified? It could easily have been done so over the phone. Instead, once again, we found ourselves fooled, primed by having responded to a marketing campaign that promised to consolidate phone, TV, and internet for one low fee. But ultimately it costs more and more in terms of time wasted, installation charges, added hardware charges, subscription fees and feature fee creep.

The initial order was wrong through no fault of our own, and we were told we had to contact DirecTV again. We were then told we needed to buy a box that would allow us the features that we were sold. We were then told we would get $100 rebate instead, which did not occur. It took us three days of phone calls to find out that he original box needed to be credited and the new box billed and scheduled for install. The install was then canceled, and this was the preview to what we experienced at the beginning of this complaint.

The marketing campaign was textbook bait-and-switch, riddled with unexpected upcharges and hidden costs, wasted time and frustration, not to mention tangible holes drilled into in my property and an ugly dish attached that will now remain because you will not remove it...

The latest bill received is dated November 14 in the amount of $279.82 adds insult to injury. It was Direct TV whom failed to provide FREE CUSTOM INSTALLATION as advertised and promised, by doing so you "breached the contract." Therefore no further money is owed to your company. I have already complained to the BBB. If necessary, I am immediately ready to contest your predatory business practices. If anything, I should be compensated by you for the burdensome inconvenience to me and my family that your company has instigated.

I look forward to an expeditious resolution to this problem.
