Sir,
On Sept your staff has informed us that they have observed excess meter reading. They have visited our house, checked all our electric appliances, our meter connection but did not find any fault anywhere. On 03.08.2007 we wrote to your office for examining our meter and repairing or replacing the same. Finally in the month of Feb we received electric bill of Rs 228350/-. Till then we were paying monthly bills whatever were given by your dept. We approached the local MSEB office at Brindavan complex, where they informed us that the meter was faulty and it had taken a jump. They also informed us that they have already forwarded our faulty meter report for correction and replaced our meter and that we would receive the rectified bill in the next month. But to our surprise we kept on receiving the bill with incremental amount. We visited your Bhandup office, Thane office (opp passport office) twice yet we have not received the rectified bill.
We have observed that on the bill for the month of June, the number of units consumed in past year i.e. April till March is recorded as 3301 units per month and for the month of April it is 100 units. But in the bill for the month of July, the number of units consumed from April till Dec is recorded as 3301 units per month and from Jan till May the number of units consumed is recorded as 324 units.
I would also like to bring to your notice that instead of correcting the bill for entire last financial year only the meter reading for three months namely Jan, Feb and March have been rectified (I presume) by taking average units utilized in month of Apr, May and June.
I may state that we are three members of family I, my husband and my son. I and my husband are working and are out of home almost for entire day and my son stays in Day care centre. Hence there is no power consumption during the day (excluding Sundays and holidays) except for the fridge.
There appears to be serious mistake in the bill or it shows the lethargic attitude of the staff. We have been told by the staff of MSEB that we have to continuously keep visiting their Bhandup and Thane offices till the matter is resolved and that it may even take 5 to 10 years to rectify the bill. We have to update your staff about the progress of our bill. Is it such difficult task that it should take 5-10years? Now already 10 months have passed since we gave our first request letter to check the meter.
I am sure you would be in a better position to guide your staff. Also I am sure after writing to you I can expect rectified bill in coming 15 days.
