Getting shutting down automatically while loading os xp2

Sir,

i am having hcl laptop of dual core processor, 1GB RAM.It was loaded with vista home os.i want to load xp2 os, as vista got corrupted with virus.while loading xp2, i found that after it loading initial setup its getting shutdown automatically by displaying fatal error.please help me sir.
