HDFC BANK ROPAR(PUNJAB)
Footage backup problem

I (Ashish Sharma) have my salary account in HDFC bank branch on college road Ropar. On 30-12-08 I made a transaction of Rs.500/- from branch ATM and unfortunately due to some domestic problem I forgot my card in machine. Next day on 31-12-08 when I remembered, I went to bank branch ATM and asked from security gaurd about my card, he told me that he found my card lying on machine and handed over it to a staff person. Then I asked from very that person, he replied that he had destroyed the card in the evening of same day i.e 30-12-08.He also guided me to block my card and gave me customer care number. Before blocking my card I asked from customer care lady about last transaction. She said that last transaction is of Rs.5000/- Also she said that this transaction was just after one minute from the trasaction that I made i.e of Rs.500/-

Once again I asked from staff person about this unknown transaction. He said that the gap of two transactions is only some seconds. He sugested me to give an application to branch manager for checking the footage from where they could find out the personwho made this Rs.5000/-transaction. Next day I went twice to bank branch with application but manager was not on his seat. Next day I met him and explained the case, he assured me to wait for the footage. He said it will come from bombay. Next day was holiday and after two more days he said system is not working and told me to come next day. In this process we lost many days. Finally he said that he had seen the footage and footage of 30-12-08 is not available, they have not enough backup. Initially he said that they have 12 hrs backup and next day he said 3days backup.

I am not agree with his statement. What is the purpose of these cameras in banks if they have this much backup. I requested the manager to give me in written about the backup of footage but he refused me. I know this is all my mistake that I forgot card in machine, but if cameras are available in ATM machine then what is the use of these cameras. One of my friend who is in service in a bank says that minimum three months backup is there, but I don't know is it right or wrong.

Can you help me in my problem?
