Payment settled still a defaulte

Hi,

I had a hdfc credit card.i had used the credit limit of 12000... but I was not able to pay back in time..

So i kept paying the minimum interest for more than a year... and finally i settled the amount..they waived of some charges as well... but now i want to know if my name is in cibil as a defaulter... All the loans that i apply get rejected and they say i am a defaulter... but the bank never mentioned about this during the settlement..please help..now im in a good job and need some help...
