Unethical behavior for home loan preclosures

MY Name is Stephan and I have a home loan with HDFC (MA/1621340).. I am planning to go for another home loan worth 50L with HDFC, so I need to preclose my existing loan (11L). I managed to payout that 11L from my savings. I have given a cheque on 15 Dec and cheque got realised to HDFC on 20th Dec. My loan account got closed.. But till now I have not got my papers back. I have already made almost 20 calls. nothing is resolved, atlast I got in touch with Mahesh (HDFC-Annasalai-chennai) email id: [email protected]. Now he is asking for the proof of my payment. I do not understand what is the logic of proof, if money got credited to HDFC account and my loan is closed, I do not understand why that person is asking for proof.

I am now thinking whether I should go to HDFC for my second loan... HDFC SHOWS GOOD SERVICE WHILE TAKING LOAN BUT IF YOU WANT TO PRECLOSE IT, THEN IT IS A BIG PAIN WITH THEM. Some body help me in this one...
