Hp compaq laptop

I have purchased the hp compaq Laptop model No. C707tu in 2nd week of jan 08. and it was creating alot of problem in sound and even microphone port is also not working. when i went to HP service centre they said its warranty is expired in the month of Jan08. but in the backside of the laptop its written that HP gives one year warranty.

We cant Rely on these HP people.
