Overheating & Shutdown of System

Hi,

I purchased HP Pavilion dv5000tx Notebook in 2007 and I was not using it often at that time. However, my usage has increased now and strangely, the Notebook starting exposing defects. It would overheat and then shutdown abruptly. I know that it doesn't have anything to do from my end and I am also aware that this appears to be a common problem with HP Notebooks.

The question I have is "Can I file a complaint in the Consumer Forum citing intrinsic defects with the Notebook even though it is out of warranty? ".
