HSBC Bank Account
Account Closure

I had requested for the closure of my POWER VANTAGE SALARY account with HSBC, since I had resigned from the emploee.

I made my 1st application on 28th December at the Thane branch and also have an acknowledgement from Helen out there at the branch. But I was still receiving sms from the bank on the transactional details, further to which I enquired on the helpline number : 40422424 and then I received a call from Thane branch who in turn told me that there was a signature difference and thus the account was not closed. Hence I made a 2nd application on 22nd January getting it acknowledged from Helen; where in I was told that there were certain charges levied to me for overdraft. But since I argued that I never received any such intimation from banks side and why should I be bearing the charges for the same. Thus the manager assured that there will be no charges levied and the account would be closed without any further delays. But again today on 12th Feb 09 I receive a letter from the Bank on some charges.

Firstly why should I bear any charges when I had requested for the closure of the bank account twice.??? Is it my mistake if the HSBC BANK does not bother to inform the same through any means, via phones, email or letters.
