HSBC Bank
Debit account without Notice

I am not sure why this is, but it is increasingly happening with all private backs. They have started to charge customers with sums of money without notice. I am a HSBC Bank customer since 2000. I have had a good relatiosnhip with them till today. On the 6th Of October they have debited in excess of INR 800 stating that this is charges on account of balance not being maintained. My account was a zero balance account. After speaking to the customer care person Ravi in their Malad contct center in Mumbai he mentioned a leter was sent on 9th April giving me notice. I mentioned to him that I have not received any such notice and saud have they got an acknowledgement of reciept or any other media of sending it? It should be noted the bank has my email id- no notice on that? It has my phone number no message on that- I have an online account no message on that? Great and these are mulitnational banks? After pursuing with him to speak to supervisor the said call center declined the request saying that there would be no difference in my response or the supervisor? Even better! Then I asked them to log my complaint but that too was promptly declined? My question to HSBC is why do they even have a call center is it to multiply the problems or to solve consumer problems? They however advised I can travel from my current base of Pune to Mumabi and discuss the issue with the branch manager in Peddar road branch of Mumbai? For INR 800? I will spend more money travelling to Mum to solve my problem? I feel with the credit situation across the world banks qare trying to charge customer and therefore treating customers very unfairly? I have decided to close my account and stop dealing with the private banks now? I now feel transparency with provate backs is soo poor no one can trust them with their earnings any more? This is a financial impact to customer and all they do is a send a letter out in April no letter post that no meaasge email and have the audacity to say that is the way they work???

I feel very unsecure as a customer now and therefore would urge everypone to be careful with HSBC now??? They are smooth operators and do things without the customer information?

I am going to request closure of account now and just dealing with them?

Thanks
