My fiancee also holds HSBC Gold Credit Card. He had given 2 checks 4-5 working days prior to the last date and unluckily his check didn't get accepted and the one which he had dropped for me got processed. The amount in the cancelled check was more than 18000. Nobody from HSBC contacted him that the check got rejected even though they have the cheque with them and when next month's bill came, around 1900 (2 times finance charges) was charged as fine. As soon as we got this information we dropped one more cheque and enquired about it with the worst HSBC Customer Care. Around 9-10 hours of our precious time we wasted in talking to around 4-5 different people from customer care. When I called them and asked that again how can me or my fiancee can contact them back, they told that call again to customer care and tell their name. Two people did the same thing including manager and when again we tried calling them we were put on hold for 20 - 30 min on hold for thrice and the same person never takes the phone. It was horrible experience with such a reputed bank. At last one person talked to us and told that its not his mistake and they will not revert back the fine. Only 449 Rs. he can revert back. When we asked to them why two times fine, they gave a stupid answer that its generated by system and they dont know why two times. ARE THEY STUPID OR INNOCENT to give such answers and not having knowledge about their system?? Is their system not under their control?? When we asked them that why didnt they informed us about the cancellation of cheque even though the cheque is with them, again no answer for the same. When we asked for cancellation of the card they told that they will keep on charging more and more on the fine and they will not cancel the card and ALSO THREATENED US THAT OUR CREDIT RATING WILL BE AFFECTED. When asked that any higher authority to be contacted they told that the higher authority will come back to us only and again we will not do anything and will keep on increasing the amount. We told them it was not fault from our side also as we had dropped the cheques on time and from last 2 days we have just wasted our time in calling HSBC CUSTOMER CARE, it was told to us that that time we would have wasted with ICICI to pay the fine. Such type of response after wasting so much time and then also no result just left us depressed. We have now no dues left on the bank other than the fine. After having such a bad experience, i have lost trust from such reputed bank. After knowing the circumstances also they are not ready to help us. Is this the way of pulling money from customer's pocket?? I hope that the fine will be waived off as there was no mistake from our side and this episode doesn't affect our credit ratings. PLEASE HELP.
