Hi, I was holding a card of ICICI which had bill of 25 k. I couldn't pay it off as I lost my job. I kept calling them informing the same and saying that I will pay it off as soon as it is possible and asked to block the card. They said that they wouldn't be able to block the card. COnsidering it valid I thought of paying it off as soon a sit is possible. In the meanwhile they sent their recovery person who took 1500 once and 5000 once. He did not give me any receipt but he made me talk to ICICI customer care. I believed as I received a message on my cell stating the same.
I asked the recovery person to convert the amount into installments which was 50000 by that time. Even then I wanted to pay the amount by converting that into installments. He refused and said we can't do that and he went. After a week a month I received a call from Credit Card dept. asking me to conver the amount in installmetns and I was ok with it. I was happy to do that and converted that amount into 5500 of monthly installments for 12 months. My first amount was due in October and I was told by the representative that I they would call me up in october and confirm how I want to pay the amount (by going to bank or by an agent). I never received any call from them. In mid october, a guy named Ravinder called me asked if I could make the payemtn. I said yeah, why not wait until 31st october and I would pay the cheque as soon as my salary comes. Her called me after a day or two and said "ok".
I was ok and happy the wayt things were going. But after a day I started getting calls from a guy Arvind I guess. He started behaving rudely and abused. He said we are from recover and can do what we want. I yelled at him and said when I am dealing with aguy named ravinder about the same then why he is calling me up. He said I don't know any Ravinder. I talked to ravinder and ravinder say he doesn't know about this guy. He said that he would take care of it. However I started getting calls during odd hours and threatening me in different manners.
I admit that I had to change my number just because of that. Now, I understand why people become defaulters... How a bank is unable to understand the authenticity of its customer on the basis of payments, calls and commitments.
Please suggest/help/advise.
