Imposing unnecessary promotions on customers

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am an Idea telecom prepaid service user. My number is 9990198761.

I was getting advertisement calls from Idea instead of usual “tring-tring” (known as Voice of Idea- which is by default activated on every customers number without their consent) for which I complained at their customer care dept. Customer Service representative gave me a number to dial to deactivate these promotional messages before the calls so that my callers can hear normal call tone. The number was supposed to deactivate promotional message when anyone calls me but instead it activated a dialer tone on my phone which was supposed to be free of cost as per the customer care. But again Rs. 45 were been deducted from my account for the same. I called up customer service people twice and got it deactivated from my phone, however they never acknowledge their mistake, and neither had they reimbursed my money.

Two days after this, I got a call to activate caller tune song on my cell phone Since, I am not at all interested in caller tunes and other promotional stuff, and I disconnected the call. To my amusement few seconds after disconnecting their call I got an SMS stating that Rs. 45 has been deducted from my balance and a caller tune has been activated on my phone of their choice. I called up Idea Customer Service and asked them to refund my Rs. 45 and deactivate this tone which I never opted. Instead of listening to me they blamed me that I have myself activated it on my phone and they can’t help me out with this. They were so rude that I insisted on speaking to their higher level manager. To my astonishment they were even worse as they assured that the tone would be removed ASAP, however they did not promised of reimbursing my Rs. 45. But even after 2 days my caller tone was not removed.

My situation is that at present I am looking for a job and getting calls from various HR people and Companies regarding the same ‘cause my number is there on various job portals. However, the caller tone being imposed on my phone is giving such a bad impression about me as a professional that people have even commented that why I am carrying a villagers tone on my phone. This is absolutely unacceptable. This is both ways loss for me, in terms of respect, time and money. Still the customer care people are not bothered about my problem. They are not even listening. They have no respect for their customers since they know nothing can be done against them.

I am sorry to say but this has become a practice for Idea Mobile company, to charge their customers for the services they never use (or never intend to use) and I am planning to go to consumer forum against the same.

Idea has not only poor service but they are also trying to cheat the customer in a fraudulent way by imposing their promotional schemes on their customers by any means. This matter may be referred to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India for a policy to stop Telecom companies for cheating prepaid customers. I have already several times spoken with the customer care representative and manager but nothing has happened neither my Rs. 90 (Rs. 45 Rs. 45) have been reimbursed.

Please help me to get this company to acknowledge their wrongs.

I would not mind going to consumer court to demand compensation for the loss of respect I had both socially and professionally in past few days.

I would be so very grateful if you could look into it and help me out.
