Maruti Swift VXI
Problems with the Ca

Attention Folks at Maruti,

I'm completely disheartened writing this email to a brand like maruti, i always thought that maruti manufactured the most hassle free, low maintenance and sturdy cars. This being the reason i bestowed trust in your brand and bought my first ever maruti car - the swift vxi (MH02 - JP - 279)

I booked the car in Dec' 07 with Excel Autovista and received the car on 7th Jan' 08 with a lot of problems, few of which are listed below:

1. Scratches and spots on the dashboard and steering wheel

2. Rattling noise during running on smooth roads

3. Rear seat headrest lock

On mentioning to the folks at the showroom on a resolution to these problems, they said i would have to live with the first one and for the second problem i would have to get it resolved in the first service.

I gave my car for the first service to Sai Service in Andheri (E), mumbai with a complaint for mileage, pickup and the rattling noise. When i collected my car i was informed that all the problems have been taken care of (a loose nut at the back was causing the problem - which was tightened) - but to my misery nothing had ended. The mileage slightly improved though the pickup was still poor and rattling noise remained

Being a salaried individual who works for a MNC, i don't have the time on weekdays to run behind the CAR to have my problems rectified and hence lived with this noise for almost a month until a point where it got unbearable. Unfortunately sometime in late feb / early march a coconut fell on my car and smashed the windscreen and roof.

I gave my car to the Excel Autovista workshop at kalina for repair and mentioned the rattling noise problem also to be rectified. On delivery of the car i found a patch on the roof that was not painted appropriately. Mr. Nadir from the accident team mentioned that he would resolve this problem the next time i gave my car for a service and the rattling noise still persisted.

After this incident i've been visiting the Excel Autovista workshop every weekend on my off days and spend the complete day there. They rip of all the parts (mentioned below) of my car each time and take the car for a test drive trying to figure out what the problem is and where is the rattling sound coming from. They try doing some setting and greasing with the coil springs and bushings but all in vain and the noise still persists

1. bumper

2. back seat

3. all door / boot panels

4. tail light

5. etc...

Recently i was travelling to bangalore and i was told by the folks at Autovista that they'll have my car picked up and the problem will be fixed permanently, so on friday - 4th April the car was collected from my place with fuel almost touching half the tank (on delivery back the fuel tank was almost at empty)

Even though i was away from the city i was constantly in touch with Rajesh Mendon - Works Manager, who informed that the rattling noise was occurring because the left rear seat belt clip was loose and the sound no longer exists as this clip has been replaced.

The car was dropped back on 5th April (in the afternoon) and the keys were handed over to my Mother (she doesn't know anything about Cars), on my return when i tried using the car on 6th April (Sunday) i was completely shocked and in a state of flux, the car was in a pathetic state. There were grease stains all over the car in the interior (on door / other panels, handles and roof) and on the seats as well - All of this after Rajesh / Vijay mentioning that the car was thoroughly washed / inspected before delivery to my place.

So i went back yesterday Monday 7th April to have the car cleaned and washed, although the car is cleaned / washed and vacuumed the following problem still persists:

1. the rattling noise

2. pickup

3. poor mileage

4. terribly unclean seats and grease marks all over the car.

This leaves me in a state of misery now having spent 5 lakhs for a branded car like maruti which is just a couple of months old.

I would like appropriate action to be taken by Maruti, and put an end to all my problems.

P.S. This morning the driver side power window has been behaving weirdly

Regards,
